Hello everyone, my name is Aaron Priestly. For the last couple of years I’ve been travelling across the globe in search of excitement, beauty and cultural exchanges. I left university after my Master’s degree and felt like my life had no direction as such, so the decision was made to pack a ruck sack and leave my home town indefinitely to see what marvels I could find in other countries. My journey has been slow but steady and I’m enjoying the experience much more than I thought. Language is not a barrier when you are abroad and alone unless you want it to be and I find a smile, wave and general sunny disposition helps people warm to me and in turn make me feel welcome in their country.
I’ve met the most amazing people on this trip – other writers, fellow travellers and locals who have greeted me almost as long lost family and have taken me into their homes. These are the people I will never forget, the ones who make the trip even more worthwhile and special. At 29 years old I’m neither the youngest or oldest traveller that I have met, but they all agree that the time spent exploring foreign lands will stay firmly embedded in their memories for a long time. I’ve been helped by many others during this trip and by writing my experiences down I hope that it helps other people too.
Writing my experiences down on my website is somewhat of a cathartic process for me and I hope you will enjoy reading about my travels. I’d be happy to hear your stories and thoughts too so feel free to drop me an e-mail if you’d like to. I’m travelling by various means so you might spot me on a plane, train or even on foot and it’s all part of my plan to make the most of this journey.
